Question: How long on average does your older baby nurse on each side?

I have a nearly 10 monthold who has had weight issues, which we are seeing a specialist for on Thursday. It seems like she doesn't nurse for very long, and she NEVER nurses with gusto (aka she's a slow eater). How long does your baby nurse on average on each side?

My guy will be 3 months old this Friday and he also nurses 10 minutes on each side, but every hour. He is sleeping through the night so our early feeding is a little more than the total of 20 minutes, but the rest of the day it's all 10 each side.

About 15 to 20 minutes

My 11.5mo nurses for 10minutes per side every 3 hours.

My baby nurses for an average of 4 minutes, only on one side, each feeding. She is a very aggressive eater. They called her a barracuda baby from the day she was born. She's 11 months. *why would someone thumbs-down that? sorry for being honest. **I don't see it now, but it was showing a thumbs-down. KKingS, my baby does nurse longer at bedtime, too. :)

Jen--it's okay, my little boy eats the same way. Usually, it only takes him a few minutes to drain one side. But there are other times when it takes a while longer, maybe about 10 minutes...those are usually the feedings that happen right before a nap or bedtime though (or feedings when he is doing more playing than eating, lol.)

My let down is virtually immediate and my milk comes out quite fast and my LO has always been a pretty strong sucker so with all that combined, he has always been super quick when it comes to feeding. These days (he's 9 months) he feeds 3-4 minutes each side during the day, longer first thing in the morning and just before bed.
