Question: How long after baby nurses should i wait till i pump...?
(Posted by: lildevil on 2010-01-24 18:58:21)
I am exclusively breast feeding my baby and i work 2 days per week.. during those eight hour work shifts as a cashier i only have limited time to get away to pump 3 hours apart. I am currently pumping Half what my baby eats at home from the bottle I will get something like 4 oz while she will eat 8 at the babysitters. i keep hearing to pump after she nurses to help keep the freezer stock in check and i have been pumping two or three times per week other than the days im at work.. but i want to try to fit more pumping sessions in to my off days how long should i wait after baby eats to pump like half an hour? .....she is 4 months old now. and he does. he even vacates his office because that is the only spot in the building without a camera but we cannot leave the fule desk to pump let alone pump while you work like some office jobs... he is giving me special treatment in order to pump but other employees deserve their breaks too. i sometimes delay them because i have to go and that so its not like i dont' have time to pump... i can pump for fifteen minutes during my break and that works for me Im just talking about fitting in more sessions because what im getting at work is significantly less than she is eating at home and it is devouring my stash. |

You can pump immediately after baby eats. You will not get much at first, but if you keep doing it, your supply will go up eventually. You can pump after she goes to bed too. Or while she's napping |

Pump first thing in the morning every day. also, you can pump while baby nurses on the other side. Also, BY LAW your emlpoyer has to give you time to pump. |

I always pumped right after my kids had finished nursing and I had burped them and gotten them comfortable, if you pump right away it will completely empty you out which will up your supply. So if you want to stock up the freezer pump when you can at work and after every feeding with her. |

Hi...If she sleeps throught the night you should wake in the night to pump. you will get more than you need this way and have backup...if she sleeps through the night. I went back to work 5 days a week when my son was 3 months old(he slept through!). I woke up and pumped and got a 6-8 oz...a bottle each night. You will have to still pump at work so you don't explode...lol or ruin your supply. If this is possible for you, it will only take a little bit and will be so much less stressful for you. If your baby doesn't sleep through yet...keep this in mind so when she does you may only have to pump once at work. Make sure you are eating and drinking water while you are at work, you need to eat to supply milk for your baby. If you continue to pump at work your supply will increase overtime and your body will make more. If you have time before you go to work pump even if she has just eaten. I don't recommed this but did do it. I had a car adapter to pump, I felt more comfortable pumping in my car than at work, I pumped on my way to work and a little bit on the way home...not very safe but I was really careful and discreat. |
